tvNs New Series ‘The Negotiator’ Stars Han Suk-kyu, Bae Hyun-sung and Lee Re Dive into a Chicken Shop Drama

In a bold twist that blends legal drama with heartwarming social commentary, tvN’s upcoming series ‘The Negotiator’ (literal translation of ‘신사장 프로젝트’) is set to premiere this fall. Starring veteran actor Han Suk-kyu as the titular ‘Mr. Shin’, the show brings together rising stars Bae Hyun-sung and Lee Re in a story centered around a quirky chicken restaurant that serves much more than just fried goodness.

‘The Negotiator’ is a full-scale drama about communication in a disconnected era. Created by writer Ban Ki-ri, director Shin Kyung-soo, and produced by industry powerhouses Studio Dragon and Dooframe, the show features Han Suk-kyu taking on the role of a legendary negotiator who mediates disputes across all walks of life. His base of operations? A modest neighborhood chicken joint.

Fresh-faced actor Bae Hyun-sung plays Jo Philip, a rule-bound rookie judge who unexpectedly finds himself working at Mr. Shin’s chicken shop. With an impressive academic record and a no-nonsense attitude, Jo Philip is a straight-laced elite who’s been parachuted into the business world against his will. His journey from courtrooms to deep fryers promises laughter, conflict, and perhaps a little bit of healing.

Opposite him, Lee Re tackles the role of Lee Si-on, a spirited MZ-generation delivery girl with a secret. She’s Mr. Shin’s informant by day, a devoted student by night, and the real breadwinner of her family. Her spicy, tangy attitude mirrors her proficiency on the scooter, as she delivers more than just hot chicken—but sometimes critical info that could save a legal case or two.

Despite their clashing personalities, Jo Philip and Lee Si-on team up under Mr. Shin’s guidance to bring justice and resolution to their local community. Much like a perfectly balanced half-fried, half-seasoned chicken, the duo offers a flavorful mix of intellect and instinct.
