Mnet’s ‘Live Wire’: Rewiring Music Connections Through Raw Live Performances This June

Mnet is set to launch its newest music program ‘Live Wire’ this June, redefining the concept of live performances and forging deeper connections through music. The show isn’t just another music stage—it’s designed to bridge artists, audiences, and viewers with the raw power of ‘live’ music.

True to its name, Live Wire blends the concepts of ‘live’—as in real-time performances and vitality—with ‘wire,’ symbolizing connection. The show aims to offer an authentic experience of musical connection, centered around the idea: “What we need is a real connection.” More than just a performance series, Live Wire is about uniting people of shared musical vibes for heartfelt empathy and encounters.

The dual-host lineup alone is turning heads. Music polymath Jung Jae-hyung, who seamlessly bridges classical and pop, joins forces with groundbreaking music producer Code Kunst, known for shaping Korea’s modern soundscape. With both having proven their variety chops on TV and YouTube, fans are eager to see the chemistry they’ll showcase as musicians stepping back into their core identities.

Jung Jae-hyung, having dipped into performance, film scoring, and variety entertainment throughout his career, brings broad creative depth to the table. Meanwhile, Code Kunst, a trendsetting artist in Korea’s hip-hop and pop scenes, contributes stylistic edge and visionary sound. The distinctive duo is expected to deliver a fusion of sharp humor and musical substance, offering something beyond conventional performance shows.

“Though times have changed and musical tastes have fragmented, I still believe in the enduring role of music,” said Jung Jae-hyung. “If there’s even one person who can be comforted by music, I want to be a part of that mission.”

Code Kunst shared his excitement, noting, “Just imagining a space filled with music, jokes, and laughter is already thrilling. I’m full of anticipation.”

Live Wire is being hailed as a flagship production that compiles Mnet’s 30-year commitment to music broadcasting—from mainstream K-pop to celebrated shows like A-Live, Yoon Do-hyun’s Must, and more. By embracing open, genre-crossing conversations with artists across generations, and layering in entertaining variety elements, Live Wire seems poised to open a new chapter in Korea’s live music programming.

The show is scheduled to premiere June 2024 on Mnet.
