Lee Jun-young’s Bone-Chilling Villain Performance in ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ Shocks Audiences
Lee Jun-young Stuns Global Audiences with His Ruthless Role in ‘Weak Hero Class 2’
On June 25, the highly anticipated Netflix series Weak Hero Class 2 premiered, immediately capturing the attention of viewers worldwide. Lee Jun-young, taking on the role of Geum Sung-je, delivered a chilling and nuanced performance that yet again reaffirmed his powerhouse acting capabilities.
Weak Hero Class 2 follows Yeon Si-eun (played by Park Ji-hoon), a model student who transfers to a new school burdened by traumatic past experiences. Determined never to lose a friend again, he confronts escalating violence, navigating a brutal but luminous path of survival and growth.
Lee portrays Geum Sung-je, a carefree, unfettered character who seeks only personal amusement and aligns himself with the leader of a notorious school gang. In his debut scene at a PC café, Geum nonchalantly unleashes brutal violence on someone bad-mouthing him — an act that sets the tone for the chillingly psychotic character Lee masterfully brings to life.
In a tense rooftop altercation with Yeon Si-eun, Lee’s visceral action scenes and subtle, unnerving smiles showcased his remarkable ability to embody raw, chaotic energy, leaving viewers both entranced and unnerved.
Lee’s portrayal of Geum Sung-je stands as yet another triumph in his career, adding to a series of riveting villainous roles he has impressed with, such as in D.P., Mask Girl, and Brave Citizen. Dubbed a ‘handsome villain,’ he proved once again why he is considered a ‘must-watch’ actor in the K-drama scene.
Previously, Lee delivered a memorable performance as a deserter in D.P. and further solidified his dark allure with haunting roles in Mask Girl and Brave Citizen. Most recently, in the Netflix series Melo Movie, he shifted gears, playing an unknown composer grappling with a breakup, showcasing an entirely different emotional depth.
Lee also charmed audiences globally in the Netflix sensation 폭싹 속았수다 (Thank You For Your Hard Work), where he portrayed the pure-hearted lover Young-bum, stirring hearts with his sincere and heartfelt performance alongside IU.
Lee Jun-young is set to return to the small screen on June 30 with the KBS 2TV drama 24시 헬스클럽, promising yet another unforgettable performance.
