Korean Crime Thriller ‘The Scalpel Hunter’ to Premiere at 8th Cannes International Series Festival
South Korean actor Ryu Seung-soo will attend the 8th Cannes International Series Festival in France, as his latest crime thriller series The Scalpel Hunter has been officially invited to the Cannes Series Rendez-vous (Official Competition Section).
The festival, taking place from April 24 to 29 in Cannes, celebrates global drama and series content that combines both commercial appeal and artistic quality. The Scalpel Hunter, produced by LG U+ STUDIO X+U, is scheduled for its world premiere on April 29 (local time).
Ryu Seung-soo stars in the series as Jeon Chang-jin, a detective from the Violent Crime Team. The story follows a gifted forensic pathologist named Se-hyun who, while performing an autopsy, discovers signs of murder tied to his father—whom he believed was dead. What unfolds is a dark and gripping chase where Se-hyun decides to hunt down his father before the police do, uncovering chilling secrets from his own past.
Directed by Lee Jung-hoon and co-starring Park Ju-hyun, Choi Gwang-je, Bin Chan-wook, Park Yong-woo, and Kang Hoon, The Scalpel Hunter is positioning itself as a must-watch thriller. The cast and director will also participate in various press activities and the red carpet ceremony during their stay in Cannes.
The series is slated to premiere in 2025 on U+TV and U+ Mobile TV.
