Kim Ji-yeon Shines in ‘The Escape of the Seven’ Episode 3 with Her Compelling Performance

Kim Ji-yeon continues to captivate audiences with her compelling performance in SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Escape of the Seven’. In episode 3, aired on May 25, Kim portrays Yeori, the only granddaughter of a renowned shaman and a gifted eyewear artisan.

In this episode, Yeori’s desperation to save Yoon Gap (played by Yook Sung-jae) took center stage. Witnessing the spirit of Yoon Gap dragged away by the monstrous Palcheokgwi left Yeori in shock. Her sorrow and earnest emotions pulled viewers deeper into the story.

The plot thickens when Gang Cheol-i (also Yook Sung-jae), possessed by an Imoogi spirit, prevents Yeori from intervening and heartbreakingly shares that Yoon Gap was devoured by Palcheokgwi. Yeori’s distraught gaze delivered an emotional punch that resonated with fans.

Displaying unyielding bravery, Yeori even collaborated with vengeful spirits to summon Palcheokgwi. In particular, she placed a jar near Prince Yeongin (played by Kim Sun-bin) to release the vengeful spirit Susalgwi (Song Soo-i), leading to a harrowing encounter. Although she succeeded in locating the Sokjeoksam associated with Palcheokgwi, Yeori warned Susalgwi sternly, demonstrating her pure-hearted humanity and fear of fueling malevolence.

Later, Yeori took direct action against Palcheokgwi, setting herself up as bait. Despite falling into danger after Palcheokgwi sensed her real intention, she managed—with Gang Cheol-i’s help—to extract the spirit from Lee Gwang (played by Park Jae-joon).

The episode ended on a cliffhanger as Yeori came face-to-face with King Lee Jeong (played by Kim Ji-hoon), who had become possessed by Palcheokgwi, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Kim Ji-yeon’s powerful portrayal of Yeori continues to anchor the narrative, enriching the world of ‘The Escape of the Seven’ and elevating the drama’s emotional gravity.
