K-R&B Classic ‘You’re My First and Last’ by Solid Gets Remade After 30 Years

Solid 1996 song Youre My First and Last remade by original composer Jung Jae yoon

More than three decades after first capturing the hearts of Korean R&B fans, Solid’s iconic 1996 track ‘You’re My First and Last’ is getting a powerful revival. The song, considered a turning point in the evolution of Korean R&B ballads, is being remade under HIGHKOLOR’s second project.

Highkolor, a unique music remake brand with the slogan ‘Sing Again, Sharpen Again’, aims to restore the emotional depth of timeless tracks using contemporary voices and reinterpretation. Their second volume centers around ‘You’re My First and Last’, a track known for its smooth arrangement, emotive melodies, and heartfelt vocals that defined a generation.

Unlike ordinary remakes, this reinterpretation involves the original composer and Solid member, Jung Jae-yoon, who is currently an active hit producer across the U.S. and Greater China. His direct involvement ensures the track retains its original sensibilities while presenting a reimagined structure for modern listeners.

Highkolor remarked, “Jung’s participation transforms this project from a simple cover into an emotional restoration effort led by its original creator. His touch brings an added layer of authenticity and depth that cannot be replicated.”

Previously, Highkolor garnered attention with their debut release of Thama’s reinterpretation of ‘Nevertheless’, which resonated with audiences for its modern emotional trajectory. Fans praised it as “a goodbye replayed in today’s language.”

The remade version of ‘You’re My First and Last’ is set to drop on June 18, with the vocalist still under wraps. Given its legacy and the artistic vision behind this release, expectations are soaring for how this classic will be reborn.
