K-pop Rookie Jang Yeo-jun Steals the Show on JTBC’s Han Mun-chul’s Black Box Review

Rising K-pop star Jang Yeo-jun, a member of the rookie boy group Close Your Eyes, made an unforgettable impression on viewers during his recent appearance on the JTBC variety show Han Mun-chul’s Black Box Review (commonly referred to as “Hanbly”).

Airing on April 22, the episode marked Jang’s first performance on a national variety program. Introduced as the youngest “rookie” guest to appear on the show, Jang greeted the audience with an infectious smile and explained the meaning behind his group’s name: “It means that every time we close our eyes, we are with our fans.”

Promoting the group’s debut track All the Poetry and Novels Inside Me, Jang revealed he participated in choreographing the dance and had likely practiced “over 10,000 times” before debuting. Studio audiences erupted in cheers as he delivered a spontaneous dance performance showcasing the track’s expressive and fluid movements.

Sharing his personal story, Jang revealed that he had long desired to appear on “Hanbly” because his parents are avid fans. He humorously recounted failing his driving test five times, drawing genuine laughter from the show’s hosts and viewers.

A standout segment featured Jang accurately answering traffic law trivia questions, asserting his “model student” image on the show. When confronted with footage of a staged car accident for insurance fraud, he didn’t hold back, stating, “People should earn money honestly.”

Throughout the broadcast, Jang’s natural reactions and consistent positivity earned him praise as a new variety show hopeful. Despite being a newcomer, his authenticity and comedic timing hinted at promising future TV appearances.

Close Your Eyes is set to hold their first fan meeting series, Closer Moments, on May 24 and 25 at the Blue Square SOL Travel Hall (formerly Mastercard Hall) in Seoul. Fan club pre-sale kicks off at 7 PM KST on April 28 via Interpark Ticket, with general ticketing available from April 30.
