Jennie, a Korean Superstar, Joins Harvard-Educated Gayageum Master on ‘You Quiz on the Block’

Get ready for a star-studded episode of tvN’s acclaimed talk show You Quiz on the Block, airing this Wednesday night. The 292nd episode features an eclectic guest lineup: a Harvard-educated gayageum specialist from Alaska, a teenage bug trainer with 34 million views, and global K-pop icon Jennie of BLACKPINK.

From Alaska to Korea, Jocelyn “Professor Cho” Clarke is making waves as the first foreigner in Korea certified in the art of gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument. Speaking five languages and holding a PhD from Harvard University in Korean music—with a focus on gayageum vocal accompaniment—Jocelyn shares how she transitioned from studying Japanese and Chinese instruments to falling in love with Korea’s gayageum during her 1992 visit to the National Gugak Center.

Viewers will be touched by her 15-year journey from Alaska to Seoul, enduring painful hands and student life in Sillim-dong under the guidance of famed musical director Park Kal-lin. Her performance of traditional Korean music—and even a taste of trot—will wow hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho.

Also joining the program is Lee Ji-seob, a middle school student who’s gone viral for training hornets. The young entomologist’s videos have surpassed 34 million views, thanks in part to his insect companion nicknamed “Mr. Kim the Hornet.” He brings along beetles, larvae, frogs, and more to the show. Starting from age seven, Lee has written his own illustrated biology books. Despite saying he only cares about insects, he confesses admiration for a certain girl group, sparking curiosity from fans.

Saving the best for last, Jennie returns to Korea after slaying the stage at Coachella. She chats about her 50-minute live set, delivered in a single costume and capped with the emotional phrase, “Mom, I love you,” which brought tears to both her and her mother. Jennie opens up about her years as a YG trainee, life in New Zealand, and finally debuting as a member of BLACKPINK—a journey filled with cultural transitions, emotional tolls, and now, her role as a company CEO.
