‘Heavenly Ever After’: Son Suk-ku’s Hilarious Fear of Hell for His Beloved Wife

Son Sukku reacts hilariously to grape bead omen in JTBC drama Heavenly Ever After

On the June 3rd episode of JTBC’s weekend drama ‘Heavenly Ever After’, fans were treated to a heartfelt yet comedic glimpse into the lives of Go Nak-jun (played by Son Suk-ku) and his wife, Lee Hae-sook (played by Kim Hye-ja).

The episode revolves around a quirky but touching storyline where Lee Hae-sook returns from church only to reveal that her tally of symbolic “grape beads” has increased to five. The beads, in this fictional universe, represent spiritual merit—or the lack thereof. When Pastor (played by Ryu Deok-hwan) notices the increase, Hae-sook candidly confesses, “I did a little gossiping,” pointing subtly at him.

Laughing off her own confession, she adds, “It’s not that bad. He’s just a bit fussy and randomly lucky. He looks like a shiny wooden gong.” The Pastor frowns and warns, “Be careful. One more bead and it’s Hell for you.”

Back at home, Hae-sook watches her husband reading outside and fondly thinks, “What a handsome man! My husband has always known that pose makes him look cool.” As Go Nak-jun sees the five grape beads, he becomes visibly anxious and asks whether someone had warned her to be cautious. Despite her reassurances, he frets, “Can you just stay home from now on?”

“You’ve seen them too, those terrifying agents of Hell,” he says. But Hae-sook delivers a mic drop moment: “I’m not scared of Hell. I survived something worse—life as a daughter-in-law.”

Blending humor and emotional intimacy, ‘Heavenly Ever After’ continues to charm viewers with its thoughtful reflections on love, aging, and the afterlife—all wrapped in a surreal, yet relatable narrative.
