Former Weeekly Star Shin Jiyoon Debuts Emotional Solo Track ‘Did you love me?’ Worldwide
Shin Jiyoon, a former member of the popular K-pop girl group Weeekly, has officially launched her solo career with an emotionally resonant new track titled ‘Did you love me?’. Released globally on June 22 through music streaming service AURORA (Nature), the single marks Jiyoon’s artistic rebirth under her real name.
This song is uniquely heartfelt, as it stems from a breakup Shin experienced during her middle school years. Pouring her personal story into the lyrics, she delivers a message that resonates with anyone who’s faced the confusion and sadness of young love. With an infectious rhythm and a chorus designed to get stuck in your head, ‘Did you love me?’ brings melodic catharsis to listeners worldwide.
The track is also creatively layered. While the original lyrics were written when she was in her teens, Jiyoon refined and expanded them with mature insight. The rap verse, written as an adult, serves as a message of empowerment to her younger self, featuring the standout line: ‘You swan, he’s a frog. Stop overthinking and go to sleep!’
Shin Jiyoon hopes the song will give comfort to those struggling with toxic relationships. “Forget the bad love,” she says, “and use this track to blow off some steam.” With this release, she not only solidifies her presence as a soloist but also shows her emotional depth and songwriting capabilities.
This marks the first official project from Shin Jiyoon since being chosen as a muse for AURORA. The platform, operated by Danal Entertainment, allows artists to distribute their music across 249 countries on 30 different streaming platforms. The release is also the first joint project following the strategic MOU between Danal and the Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts K-pop Department.
