From Films to Theater, Unveiling Another Side of Lee Sang-hee
Lee Sang-hee Shines on Stage with ‘The Effect’
Renowned fashion magazine Harper’s BAZAAR Korea unveiled an exclusive photoshoot featuring actress Lee Sang-hee, marking her debut in theater after 15 years. The actress showcased her charismatic elegance in both a striking black leather ensemble and a pristine white dress.
A Conversation on Acting
Post-shoot, Lee shared her sincere thoughts on acting in an interview. She stars in the play ‘The Effect’ by British playwright Lucy Prebble, which explores the lives of four individuals in an antidepressant clinical trial. Lee took on the role of Dr. Lorna James.
When asked about her first impression of the script, she commented:
“It’s the story of people at the corners of a square, evolving through mutual influence. While the narrative focuses on love, what resonated with me was ‘life’. These lives intertwine and impact each other.”
Transition to Theater

On why she chose theater for her debut:
“I fell in love with acting through films, but now it’s the craft itself that fascinates me. Unlike media acting, which demands quick decision-making, theater requires an ongoing exploration without a definitive answer.”
Overcoming Challenges
Addressing her method of overcoming anxiety and impatience:
“As actors, persevering in the moment is crucial. Senior actors have shown me this through their performances, and I aspire to do the same. While it’s human to feel anxious about the future, it’s about staying present bravely.”
Acknowledging Talent
Harper’s BAZAAR’s Actor’s Chair recognizes actors demonstrating excellence in independent films and various works. Lee Sang-hee is their 13th feature, featured in the June issue.
