EFX to Hold Historic Solo Concert in China, Breaking a Nine-Year Hiatus
K-pop boy band EFX (comprising members Wish, Kim Dong-hyun, Miu, Amin, Baek Seung, Aidan, Ye-wang, and Jeff) is making groundbreaking strides in global influence by announcing their first-ever solo concert in China. Titled ‘Youth Deficit in Fuzhou’, the concert will take place on May 31 at MAAQUU X CH8 Livehouse in Fuzhou.
This event marks a historical moment—not only as EFX’s inaugural concert in China but also as the first solo concert by an all-Korean K-pop group in China since the implementation of the Han Han reng (a cultural ban policy) in 2016.
While some international acts, including hip-hop artists like Hoe-mi, have performed in China, EFX is carving out a new path by becoming the first Korean idol group composed entirely of South Korean members to host a solo show in the country. Their activity signifies a renewed opening of the Chinese K-pop market as they emerge as one of the leading figures of the Hallyu wave in the region.
EFX has continuously cultivated a relationship with their Chinese fan base through various means. They’ve appeared in local magazines, conducted interviews, and even held fan sign events in Shanghai and Qingdao earlier this year. Their upcoming concert is the culmination of these dedicated efforts.
As part of their ongoing ‘Youth Deficit’ tour that began in Seoul last December, EFX has expanded its reach across Asia. Concerts in Macau (May 3), Taipei (May 24), and now Fuzhou (May 31) solidify their growing fan base across countries.
The group’s musical journey continues through their ‘Youth Trilogy’ series, which debuted last year with ‘Youth Period’ and ‘Youth Deficit’ as the first two full-length albums. Songs like ‘To Youth’ and ‘UNIVERSE’ have resonated well with audiences, enhanced by fresh arrangements and captivating performances.
The upcoming Fuzhou concert is set for 7:30 PM (CST) and promises a rich medley of hits and exclusive stage acts. Furthermore, EFX is reportedly in discussions for additional concerts in other regions of China.
Adding to the wave of attention, the group is set to release a new collaborative single ‘So Nice’ with American retro synth-pop duo joan on May 6 at 6 PM (KST), signaling even broader global prospects ahead.
