Daniel Choi Sparks Jealousy on Omniscient Interfering View with His Rising Variety Show Popularity
On the June 24 episode of the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) variety show Omniscient Interfering View, Daniel Choi, affectionately nicknamed ‘Choi Jeossi’, gave fans a closer look inside his down-to-earth daily life.
The episode followed the actor as he traveled to Busan to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the Lotte Giants. Impressively practical, Choi started his day at a local motel, a choice he proudly stands by. “When filming a movie, I prefer motels for overnight stays. There’s no point in spending money on fancy rooms when you’re just sleeping,” Choi reflected.
However, it wasn’t Choi’s minimalism that caught everyone’s attention—it was his increasing presence in the variety show arena. Currently appearing as a guest member on Running Man from Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), Choi has seemingly aligned himself with Korea’s top host, Yoo Jae-suk. This sparked comedic jealousy from fellow host Jeon Hyun-moo, who shares a history with Choi on Omniscient Interfering View.
“Honestly, I feel a bit betrayed. Looks like he’s riding with Jae-suk’s crew now,” Jeon joked playfully. He recounted how it all began in the show’s backstage area where he first noticed Choi’s talent and even initiated contact. “He started with us. That dressing room was the origin of his variety show life,” Jeon said with mock pride.
When panelists teased Choi with the question, “Whose crew are you really in—Moo’s or Yoo’s?”, Choi cleverly replied, “I started with Moo-hyung. Saturdays are for Moo, Sundays for Yoo!” The witty comeback had everyone in the studio in stitches.
Still, Daniel expressed appreciation for Jeon Hyun-moo, acknowledging the veteran broadcaster as the one who brought him into the world of variety shows. Yet Hyun-moo, ever the comedian, finished it off with a dramatic line: “If you’re on my team, betrayal is expected. That’s how I trained you. You’re doing great!”
The segment not only showcased Choi’s relaxed personality but also his rising popularity in Korea’s entertainment scene, transitioning smoothly between acting and variety television with charm and humor.
