K-Drama ‘Spring of Youth’ Climbs to No.2 on Indonesia’s Top Streaming Platform Vidio

Musical Kdrama Spring of Youth grabs attention in Indonesia streaming scene with Kpop cast

The K-Drama ‘Spring of Youth’, produced by Studio S Co., Ltd., FNC Entertainment Co., Ltd., FNC Story Co., Ltd., and Monster Union Co., Ltd., is making waves in Indonesia by securing the No.2 spot on Vidio, the country’s largest streaming platform with over 60 million monthly users, according to FlixPatrol.

The musical youth romance follows the journey of ‘Sae-gye,’ a former top K-pop band member who gets expelled from his group and meets ‘Kim Bom’ as he begins a new life as a college student. The pair’s chemistry, played by Ha Yujun and Park Jihu, along with immersive musical storytelling, has struck a chord both in Korea and abroad.

Audiences outside of Korea, especially in Southeast Asia, are reacting enthusiastically. Clips spreading via social media have drawn comments such as “Drama name, please!” and “Who is the idol actor?” reflecting growing curiosity about the show.

Here are 3 key reasons behind the show’s rising popularity in Indonesia:

1. A Heart-Fluttering Fantasy Like a Romance Webtoon

‘Spring of Youth’ features a storybook-like setting, with emotionally charged encounters like the iconic meeting under a campus tree or an unexpected plush toy toss during The Crown concert that lands in Kim Bom’s arms. It’s a quintessential K-drama romance fantasy come to life.

2. Unpredictable Twists and Mystery

From shocking plot twists to underlying mysteries, the show keeps viewers gripped. The tension builds with masked performances, mysterious visions in Sae-gye’s dreams, and unfolding relationships between key characters such as Jo Daepyo (Jo Han-chul) and Seo Min-chul (Kim Jong-tae).

3. K-Pop Infused Original Soundtrack

Indonesia, known for its youthful population and love for K-pop, is the perfect breeding ground for this music-centric drama. The lead actors—including actual band members Ha Yujun and Lee Seunghyub—also feature heavily in the show’s OST, which adds authenticity and appeal to music-loving fans.

The production team noted: “We are encouraged by how well the series is performing on Vidio—a key front in the global Hallyu wave. The remainder of the series will continue to challenge generational, cultural, and linguistic barriers with compelling storytelling.”

‘Spring of Youth’ airs every Wednesday at 10:40 PM KST. Episode 4 will air on May 21.
