Korean Chef Jung Ji-sun Prepares for Bold New York Launch with Innovative Menu Reveal
Chef Jung Ji-sun, a breakout star on the popular Korean Broadcasting System reality show ‘The Boss Has Donkey Ears’ (KBS 2TV), has officially stirred excitement with her ambitious plans to enter the U.S. market. The news broke in episode 306 of the show, set to air on June 18, where viewers will witness her unveiling new dishes designed specifically for New York’s culinary scene.
In the latest episode, Jung reveals, “I recently opened a pop-up store in New York. It sold out 500 servings in just 10 minutes, and we served 2,500 dishes over five days.” A response so overwhelming with interest led her to seriously consider opening a permanent location in the United States.
When co-host Park Myung-soo asked whether she had received franchise requests, Jung responded confidently, “I’ve been flooded with inquiries. I’m genuinely considering expanding to New York.”
The show gives a peek into Jung’s hectic schedule, packed with domestic travels and international appearances across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the U.S., suggesting her growing global presence. “My one-year schedule looks like your one-month calendar,” joked Park, highlighting just how in-demand she has become.
Jung also recently lectured at Harvard and experienced firsthand the buzz surrounding her cuisine in America. Deep in preparation for her U.S. debut, she hosted a late-night food brainstorming session with guests Lucky and Alberto. Together, they tested menu options to capture New York’s palate — with dishes like tofu tacos and spicy shrimp balls taking center stage.
The tension builds as the final dish to conquer American hearts will be decided after 2 AM. The full reveal of Jung’s New York-bound signature menu will air on KBS 2TV‘s ‘The Boss Has Donkey Ears’ this Sunday at 4:40 PM KST.
Stay tuned to see how Korean culinary artistry is about to make its grand entrance into the heart of Manhattan.
