Survivor-style Cooking Show Turns Into a Seafood Feast with Ahn Jung-hwan
On the latest episode of If You Rest, It’s a Relief, Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation’s hit variety show, audiences were given a unique blend of survival, gourmet cooking, and honest laughs. Ahn Jung-hwan, dubbed ‘CEO Ahn’ in the studio, joined Boom, Kim Min-kyung, and BOYNEXTDOOR’s Lee Han to watch an island adventure unfold, led by former soccer star Lee Young-pyo.
This week, episode 48 followed Lee Young-pyo as he assembled a diverse crew—including Seol Ki-hyeon, Cho Hye-ryun, Jo Woo-jong, and chef Jung Ho-young—for the ultimate deserted island restaurant challenge. Their mission? To catch and prepare a rare, seasonal seafood prized in Korean cuisine.
Lee Young-pyo prepared a surprise ‘weapon’ to beat Ahn Jung-hwan in an unofficial competition: the elusive and exquisitely flavored wild-caught seasonal fish. Unlike its farmed counterpart, this wild fish offered unbeatable taste and size, leaving even the studio hosts in awe.
But the standout moment came when Ahn Jung-hwan confessed why he was particularly excited for this seafood. Referring to his wife Hye-won, he joked, “I don’t get to eat this at home because Hye-won always eats it all.” His candid comment triggered laughter across the studio, with Boom quipping, “So this is why you’re feasting on the island!”
When the group finally hauled in their catch, it was so impressive that Ahn exclaimed, “I could sleep on this fish—just wrap myself in it.” Viewers are now left wondering what type of seafood elicited such amazement and jealousy.
To find out the identity of the giant fish and whether Lee Young-pyo’s strategy paid off, tune into If You Rest, It’s a Relief airing this Monday at 9 PM on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation.
