Netflix’s gripping teen action-thriller ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ recently wrapped up its global fan event, ‘Homecoming GV,’ drawing immense attention not only in Korea but across the globe. The series, which follows honor student Yeon Si-eun and his fight for survival in a world ruled by violence, continues to captivate audiences with its raw depiction of friendship and trauma.
Marking a symbolic moment in the franchise, the event brought together 11 leading cast members from both Class 1 and Class 2, along with director Yoo Soo-min and executive producer Han Joon-hee. The energy was palpable as fans worldwide tuned in via live stream, celebrating the reunion of characters and actors that have left a deep impression.
Executive producer Han remarked, “It’s been four years since we began this journey, and I’m incredibly thankful for the love the series has received. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our cast and crew who gave everything for this story.”
Director Yoo echoed the sentiment: “I’ll carry deep gratitude with me for a lifetime. Our team poured their hearts into building both Class 1 and 2.”
Park Ji-hoon, who plays Yeon Si-eun, reflected on his emotional connection to the cast of Class 1: “They feel like my first love. Even unconsciously, I find myself thinking about them.”
Choi Hyun-wook (Ahn Soo-ho) described his growth through the role: “Soo-ho often charged ahead without fully understanding his emotions, and this taught me a lot personally.”
Hong Kyung (Oh Beom-seok) praised the ensemble: “Watching it again, I was blown away by the performances. It feels rare to meet such sincere colleagues.”
Shin Seung-ho (Jeon Seok-dae) shared: “‘Weak Hero’ is both a treasured memory and a bittersweet story. Just looking into Si-eun’s eyes could bring tears.”
Lee Yeon (Yeong-i) added passionately: “They say friendship at its finest becomes love. ‘Weak Hero’ is love.” He further expressed a hopeful fan theory about Seok-dae’s post-prison life, resonating deeply with fans.
Within just three days of its release, ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ topped Netflix’s Global TOP 10 in the non-English TV category. Director Yoo noted, “We aimed to seamlessly connect Class 1 and Class 2 as one narrative. While Class 1 was emotionally intense, Class 2 leaned into genre depth for broader appeal.”
Ryeo Un, who plays Park Hoo-min, shared insights into his heartfelt performance: “Hoo-min values people and friendship. I shaped his emotional journey through deep discussions with the director.”
Choi Min-yeong (Seo Jun-tae) added: “Unlike most characters, Jun-tae doesn’t fight. But I emphasized his inner strength and moral beliefs instead.”
As the iconic figure of the series, Park Ji-hoon closed the event with a message to Yeon Si-eun: “I hope you can finally live with a smile now. You have the friends you longed for.”
