82MAJOR Breaks New Records with Explosive Comeback Through ‘SILENCE SYNDROME’
K-pop rising stars 82MAJOR are setting the industry ablaze with their third mini-album, SILENCE SYNDROME, officially released on May 14th. With striking hip-hop performances and an upgraded sound, the group is forging a bold path into superstardom.
The new EP communicates a desire to break free from the societal silence enforced by rigid systems. From concept to execution, SILENCE SYNDROME embodies raw energy and matured artistry, with the group delivering spellbinding synergy and undiluted charisma.
The title track, ‘TAKEOVER’ (Korean: ‘뭘 봐’), is a hybrid hip-hop masterpiece blending trap, UK drill, and drum & bass influences. The album includes other standout tracks like ‘Passport,’ ‘Promise You,’ and the anthemic track ‘Heroic’ (Korean: 영웅호걸). Impressively, all members participated in songwriting and production,raising the EP’s authenticity and creative depth.
‘TAKEOVER’ has driven fans wild thanks to its explosive chorus and stage performance, which is elevated when the entire group yells out in unison. This bombastic energy translated to the group’s comeback stage video ranking high on domestic video platforms and social media.
Over 600 fans from the official fandom, ATTITUDE, applied for live music show attendance during its first broadcast week, proving 82MAJOR’s surging popularity. The high-quality music video, directed by renowned visual artist Woogie Kim — known for his work with IU, BTS, and Crush — has also soared, surpassing 7.1 million views as of May 29th.
Commercially, the album broke the group’s own records. SILENCE SYNDROME nearly doubled the first-week sales of their previous EP X-82, marking a significant ‘career high’.
Internationally, the EP made an impressive footprint by topping the iTunes K-pop Daily Track Chart in Greece and ranking high in two additional countries. On the album charts, it performed strongly in four countries and secured top spots on Apple Music in three.
Reflecting on their return, 82MAJOR shared, “We thought a lot about our fans who waited for us. That really motivated us to prepare even harder.” Those emotions blossomed into the stunning result that is SILENCE SYNDROME.
