Ahn Hyo-seop Joins Netflix’s ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’ as Voice Actor
South Korean actor Ahn Hyo-seop is taking his talents global with his latest role in the upcoming Netflix animated feature K-pop Demon Hunters. The film, which is co-produced by Sony Pictures Animation, is generating significant buzz for its genre-bending storyline and international appeal.
K-pop Demon Hunters centers around a popular girl group that secretly battles demons when they’re off-stage. With a blend of electrifying music performances, rich emotional storytelling, and supernatural thrills, the film captures the complex identity and emotions of today’s youth, all while tapping into the global cultural phenomenon that is K-pop.
In this groundbreaking project, Ahn Hyo-seop voices Jin-woo, a charismatic and intense lead male character who also leads a fictional boy group in the film. His performance seeks to capture subtle emotional nuances entirely through voice – all in English – marking a new milestone in his career as a global-facing Korean actor.
Directed by Jennifer ‘Maggie’ Kang and Chris Appelhans (of Wish Dragon), and following in the artistic legacy of hits like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the film is poised to be a standout example of cross-cultural storytelling. It’s more than just another K-content export — the film signifies what industry insiders are calling ‘K-culturalization’: the incorporation of Korean cultural codes and aesthetics as a structure for global content narrative.
Ahn’s casting is expected to ignite massive interest from international K-drama and K-pop fans. The film will premiere worldwide on Netflix on June 20 in over 190 countries.

In addition to this role, Ahn recently completed shooting for the movie Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, where he plays the lead role of Kim Dok-ja. The film is slated for release in July.
