Transforming for Dramatic Roles
In Netflix’s emotional drama ‘폭싹 속았수다’, Park played a nuanced character and now, in the upcoming JTBC drama ‘굿보이’, he has taken on the role of a former boxing champion who joins a special investigation unit as a detective. Park expressed how this was his first venture into the action genre, saying, “It was a challenging endeavor physically, but I was truly happy working with amazing people.”
Rigorous Training
To embody his character in ‘굿보이’, Park Bo-gum trained for over six months, engaging in intensive daily routines that included one hour of strength training and two hours of boxing practice. He shares, “Looking back, I can’t believe I managed to train that extensively. Playing Yoon Dong-ju definitely boosted my physical stamina.”
Fitness Regimen
Park credits his enduring cardio habits for his ability to endure such demanding workouts. Known for his impressive swimming scenes in ‘폭싹 속았수다’, he continues, “I’ve been swimming since I was young and I’m grateful that people appreciate it. Lately, I’ve been running, which makes usual scenery and weather feel different and delightful.”
Having maintained his fitness through swimming and running, especially post-military service with senior artist Sean’s encouragement, Park says, “Running different courses has turned my stamina into that of steel, aiding me in my acting endeavors that require long hours of training.”
Exploring New Dimensions
Park Bo-gum, who showcased his musical side in ‘더 시즌즈 : 박보검의 칸타빌레’, shares how roles in music and sports have given him room to grow. Yet, he states, “As diverse as the world is, there are many facets of me I haven’t explored as an actor.
