Vocal Powerhouse Duo Shines on ‘Immortal Songs’ with Emotional YB Cover

Korean vocal queens Lee Young Hyun and Son Seung Yeon reignite Immortal Songs with YB cover

In the latest episode of KBS2’s beloved music competition show ‘Immortal Songs’, the second part of the ‘2025 Oh My Star’ special delivered an electrifying performance featuring powerhouse female vocalists Lee Young Hyun and Son Seung Yeon.

The duo, praised for their unmatched vocal abilities, took on YB’s emotional anthem ‘I’ll Forget You’ in a gripping showdown that highlighted their intense chemistry and dramatic delivery. Fans and critics alike hailed it as one of the most impactful performances of the year.

Veteran rocker Park Wan Kyu, whose hits ‘Love of a Thousand Years’ and ‘Lonely Night’ were mentioned alongside their songs, couldn’t hide his mixed feelings. He revealed that his songs are now often searched together with those of Lee and Son, calling it a sign of how much attention this new vocal duo is drawing—and jokingly showed disappointment over event organizers choosing Lee Young Hyun instead of him.

Lee Young Hyun acknowledged Son Seung Yeon as both a motivator and a tough competitor. Son responded endearingly, saying she grew up mimicking Lee’s vocals during high school when she was often called ‘Big Mama,’ referencing the female vocal group made famous by Lee.

Lee Seung Gi, the show’s charismatic host, added humor to the moment, exclaiming, “Their performance feels like a threat to everyone else!” summarizing the intensity of the battle.

This particular episode also marked the return of the point reveal system, adding extra suspense. With some rounds decided by just two votes, the stakes have never felt higher.

The ‘2025 Oh My Star’ Part 2 special aired on KBS 2TV on May 24 at 6:05 PM (KST), promising show-stopping moments and unforgettable stages from Korea’s vocal elite.
