Villain’s Country Wraps With a Heartwarming Finale Full of Laughs, Tears, and a Robot’s Last Goodbye

KBS 2TV’s quirky sitcom Villain’s Country came to an emotional and comedic crescendo in its penultimate episodes, delivering everything from laughter to touching farewells. In episodes 21 and 22, which aired on the 23rd, the show portrayed extraordinary family dynamics, blending heartfelt moments with surreal turns, as the characters wrestled with love, jealousy, and mortality—oh, and a humanoid robot.

Episode 21 showcased the fallout between Na-ra (played by Oh Na-ra) and her husband Hyun-chul (played by Seo Hyun-chul) after discovering his deception about playing golf. Furious, Na-ra brings home a humanoid robot named Kang-woo (played by Kim Kang-woo) who flawlessly performs household chores and even dances the waltz with her—triggering Hyun-chul’s jealousy.

Kang-woo’s AI-powered charm, attuned to Na-ra’s preferences, only deepens the divide. Hyun-chul’s attempts to win her back—like preparing a sandwich—backfire, especially when it includes cucumbers that Na-ra despises. Kang-woo, sensing an opportunity, wins her over with a brunch that caters to her tastes, sparking friction with Hyun-chul.

In a comically surreal twist, Hyun-chul tries to intoxicate Kang-woo with alcohol. While the robot seemingly malfunctions in Na-ra’s presence, it turns out he’s waterproof and faking it. Kang-woo confesses, “Na-ra is my everything,” expressing a desire to be the one by her side, not Hyun-chul. Ultimately, he sacrifices himself to protect Hyun-chul from electric shock, declaring, “You are Na-ra’s love. Goodbye, my Na-ra.” But surprise—it was all a dream. Na-ra wakes up and reconciles with Hyun-chul.

Episode 22 took a sobering turn when Hyun-chul, feeling unwell, was misdiagnosed with colon cancer. His loved ones, upon hearing the news, begin transforming their lives: son Young-hoon (played by Jung Min-kyu) quits gaming, daughter In-na vows to stop drinking and pursue a full-time job. Na-ra gifts him a motorcycle he’s long desired. As the family rallies, Hyun-chul later discovers the diagnosis was incorrect—it’s just hemorrhoids—but the emotional impact of his family’s support remains.

The family’s commitment continues as they venture into the mountains searching for a rare mushroom—fabled for its vitality-boosting properties. They encounter a wild boar, and Jin-woo (played by Song Jin-woo) heroically lures it away, leaving viewers emotionally stirred. Ultimately, the family returns and presents Hyun-chul with a heartfelt gift: mushroom tea, along with a party featuring a donut cushion and butt-shaped cake, blending hilarity and warmth.

Viewers were deeply moved, sharing reactions online such as, “Even the robot is a villain—trying to break up the marriage!,” “Oh Na-ra and Seo Hyun-chul’s love is real,” and “From cancer scare to hemorrhoids—laughed till I cried!”

The final episode of Villain’s Country airs tonight, Thursday the 24th, at 9:50 p.m. on KBS 2TV.
