VERIVERY Members Dongheon, Kyehyun, and Kangmin Join Mnet’s Boys Planet 2
The K-pop landscape is heating up again, as three members of the boy group VERIVERY—Dongheon, Kyehyun, and Kangmin—have officially joined the cast of Mnet’s highly anticipated upcoming survival show, Boys Planet 2. According to multiple industry sources on the 9th, the trio will compete in the show airing later this year.
VERIVERY, a Jellyfish Entertainment boy group that debuted in January 2019, is known for its musical versatility, seamlessly switching between bright and intense concepts. With strong skills in vocals, rap, and dance, the group has consistently carved out its place in the industry.
This move marks Dongheon’s official return to the stage after completing his active-duty military service in February, which began in August 2023. During his absence, Kyehyun and Kangmin continued to pursue both group and personal activities, showcasing their versatility in music, variety, and acting projects.
Notably, this isn’t VERIVERY’s first survival show appearance. In 2020, they competed in Mnet’s Road to Kingdom—a prequel to Kingdom: Legendary War—where they performed alongside Pentagon, ONF, Golden Child, The Boyz, ONEUS, and TOO. VERIVERY advanced to the final live round, impressing audiences with their strong performances.
Now, Dongheon, Kyehyun, and Kangmin are back to test their mettle once more in Boys Planet 2. On the 9th, Jellyfish Entertainment revealed that the trio would pause all activities to focus on an undisclosed personal schedule, hinting at their dedication to the new competition.
The stakes are high for the experienced idols, each boasting nearly six years of industry experience across music, entertainment, and acting. Fans and industry insiders alike are curious whether this will mark a new career turning point for the three artists.
Boys Planet 2 is Mnet’s first “K-pop Twin Project,” featuring two parallel survival programs: Boys Planet 2 K (Korean) and Boys Planet 2 C (Chinese). Each segment shares the same universe and format but aims to debut two different K-pop groups simultaneously—one focused on the Korean market, the other on the Chinese. The show builds upon the success of Boys Planet, which created the fifth-gen powerhouse group Zero Base One (ZB1).
Set to premiere later this year, the twin concept offers a multiverse experience for global K-pop fans and a massive stage for artists like Dongheon, Kyehyun, and Kangmin to shine anew.
