In a move to spread the cultural significance and aesthetic beauty of hanbok, Oh Seung-ha was appointed as the Hanbok Promotion Ambassador. The appointment ceremony, held at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on the 18th, was organized by the Korea Cultural Heritage Association.
> “Hanbok is a precious cultural asset embodying our nation’s identity and artistic spirit,” said Jung Samuel, President of the Association.
A Campaign for Global Awareness
This appointment is part of the Hanbok Culture Expansion Campaign, aiming at popularizing Korea’s traditional attire on a global scale. Recognized for her impressive performances on programs such as Miss Trot 3, where she excelled in both traditional music and the trot genre, Oh Seung-ha is seen as a suitable figure to lead this mission.
Connecting the Traditional and the Modern
As a Hanbok Promotion Ambassador, Oh Seung-ha will engage in various cultural events, performances, and social media promotions to share hanbok‘s beauty and spiritual values with both local and international audiences. She commented, ”As a musician bridging traditional and modern, I am honored to promote the charm and significance of hanbok locally and internationally.”
Continuing a Heritage
Oh’s dedication to promoting hanbok complements her artistic endeavors, which include participating in national music competitions where she has received numerous accolades. A notable highlight is her award from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the 21st Gangwon National Folk Song Contest.
A Journey Forward
The Korea Cultural Heritage Association’s mission to globalize hanbok continues with events such as the Korea Hanbok Model Selection Contest and international cultural exchange programs. Oh’s role as ambassador is expected to add momentum to these efforts.
Looking Ahead
Currently, Oh Seung-ha is actively participating in various performances and TV appearances across the nation. Most notably, she will be a surprise guest at the legendary singer Nam-jin’s 60th debut anniversary tour in 2025.
