Twice’s Jihyo Purchases $3 Million Building in Seoul’s Trendy Seongsu-dong

Twice member Jihyo buys multiuse building in Seongsudong Seoul with full cash payment

Jihyo, a member of the globally renowned K-pop girl group Twice, is making headlines not for her chart-topping music but for a massive real estate purchase.

According to media reports on July 2nd, Jihyo acquired a commercial building located in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, a rapidly gentrifying area often dubbed the “Brooklyn of Seoul,” back in March of last year.

The price? A staggering 4 billion KRW — approximately $3 million USD. Notably, there is no mortgage registered on the property, suggesting the transaction was made entirely in cash.

The building, constructed in 1986, spans one basement floor and three stories above ground. The facility serves multiple purposes: the first floor houses restaurants, the second floor is used as office space, and the third floor is a residential unit — making it a typical multifunctional neighborhood property (근린생활시설).

In April 2023, shortly after the purchase, Jihyo reportedly registered as a residential lease business operator and completed the registration of the location as a private rental housing unit.

This move not only showcases her financial acumen but also reflects a growing trend among Korean celebrities who are investing in real estate within key cultural and commercial districts, expanding their influence beyond entertainment.

Fans and industry experts alike are watching closely as Jihyo transitions from just a music icon to a formidable asset holder in the Seoul real estate market.
