tvN’s Upcoming Legal Comedy ‘Pro Bono’ Casts Rising Star in Lead Role

Upcoming tvN drama Pro Bono casts actress So Joo yeon as a passionate public defender

South Korean actress So Joo-yeon has been confirmed to star in tvN’s upcoming legal drama Pro Bono, scheduled to premiere in the latter half of 2025. Blending comedy and human drama, Pro Bono follows the journey of a self-serving judge who undergoes an unexpected transformation into a public interest lawyer after a life-changing incident.

So Joo-yeon will portray Park Ki-bbeum, a deeply passionate young attorney who immerses herself completely when committed to a cause. As a self-declared ‘legal enthusiast’, her character upholds human rights and finds healing in helping kind-hearted citizens navigate the legal system.

Having gained acclaim for her delicate performances in the SBS series Dr. Romantic and expanded her portfolio through diverse projects like tvN’s Graduation and the stage play adaptation of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, So Joo-yeon continues to establish a solid acting foundation. Fans are eager to see how she brings new emotional depth to her role in Pro Bono.

The drama also stars Jeong Kyung-ho as Kang Da-wit, a prideful judge entangled in the show’s fast-paced narrative, promising powerful chemistry between the lead characters.

Pro Bono reunites two Korean drama heavyweights—writer Moon Yoo-seok, acclaimed for legal hits like The Devil Judge and Miss Hammurabi, and director Kim Sung-yoon, architect of genre successes including Love in the Moonlight, Itaewon Class, and Anna Sumanara. Their collaboration is already building strong anticipation among K-Drama fans.

Poised to depict an electrifying rebellion led by capable, justice-driven lawyers, tvN’s Pro Bono aims to deliver both courtroom intensity and heartfelt character arcs in 2025.
