Cast of new tvN series Seocho-dong brings real law office experience to Korean drama viewers

Upcoming weekend drama ‘Seocho-dong’ from tvN is set to bring the pulse of the Korean legal world to television screens this July. Written by Lee Seung-hyun, a current practicing attorney, and directed by visual storyteller Park Seung-woo, the show offers a realistic portrayal of the grueling yet rewarding daily grind of young associate lawyers in Korea’s bustling legal hub, Seocho-dong.

This slice-of-life legal drama centers on five distinct associate lawyers navigating their careers in a prestigious law firm. The just-released teaser photos and script reading coverage unveil the promising synergy and on-screen chemistry among its lead cast: Lee Jong-suk as seasoned associate Ahn Ju-hyung, Moon Ga-young as passionate newcomer Kang Hee-ji, Kang Yoo-seok as high-energy Jo Chang-won, Ryu Hye-young as natural leader Bae Moon-jung, and Sungjae Im as realistic yet humorous Ha Sang-ki.

The behind-the-scenes glimpse at the script reading session showcased the actors embodying their roles with remarkable nuance. Lee Jong-suk delivered calm, calculated lines with a subtle arrogance, perfectly capturing the depth of his experienced character. Meanwhile, Moon Ga-young mirrored the fire and vulnerability of a first-year lawyer through her expressive gaze and heartfelt delivery.

Kang Yoo-seok lit up the room as the talkative Chang-won, bringing vitality and comic relief with his animated expressions. Ryu Hye-young demonstrated confident command as Moon-jung, effortlessly shifting from foodie banter to clever scene navigation. Sungjae Im’s portrayal of Ha Sang-ki, a soft-spoken individualist trying to survive the daily legal grind, was lauded for its relatability and humorous touches.

The show is nicknamed “A-Ben-Jus” (a Korean pun combining ‘Avengers’ and ‘Lawyers’), thanks to the ensemble’s superhero-like camaraderie in the cutthroat world of corporate law. With a powerful blend of compelling characters, genuine emotional arcs, and insider legal accuracy, ‘Seocho-dong’ is generating buzz among K-drama fans and legal drama enthusiasts alike.

Catch the highly anticipated premiere this July on tvN.
