The Trot Show in Japan Bridges Korean Trot and Japanese J-POP
The highly anticipated The Trot Show in Japan is finally making its way to television screens on May 3rd (Saturday) at 4:40 PM KST, exclusively on Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). The show will later air in two parts on SBS Plus, SBS funE, and SBS FiL, offering vibrant performances from top-tier trot and J-POP artists.
This cultural musical extravaganza showcases some of the biggest names in Korean trot, including Gold Jandi, Kim Hee-jae, Park Gu-yoon, Park Ji-hyun, Son Tae-jin, Song Ga-in, Song Min-jun, Ahn Sung-hoon, Jin-sung, Choi Soo-ho, Hong Ji-yoon, and Hwang Yoon-sung. Representing Japan are the renowned ‘Black Vocal King’ Mitsuzaki Shigeru and the talented Utagokoro Rie, who is celebrated for connecting Korea and Japan through her vocals.
The program features both nations’ stars delivering solo performances of their most popular hits, along with stirring reinterpretations of legendary classics that have touched audiences across generations. These collaborative stages promise to captivate with their passion-filled harmonies and impressive stage presence.

Moreover, Song Min-jun and Hwang Yoon-sung present “Spring Days of My Life” originally by the Korean duo CAN, a remake of the Japanese band Tube’s track. Gum Jan-di and Park Gu-yoon deliver a nostalgic performance of Kim Yeon-ja’s “In the Country of Morning.”
A pinnacle moment of the show is the joint rendition of Sakamoto Kyu’s “Look Up at the Stars of the Night,” performed by Mitsuzaki Shigeru and Kim Hee-jae.
