An Unexpected Rise to Fame

Actress Chae Seo-an recently graced the cover of Cosmopolitan’s July issue, captivating audiences with a retro-themed photoshoot that unveiled her previously hidden charms. Best known for her role in the Netflix drama ‘폭싹 속았수다’, she played the part of ‘Hak’s Wife,’ a character who was never loved by ‘Hak.’ In this photoshoot, we reimagine a scenario where she returns to her past, reclaims her prime time, and embraces a new confidence.

Life After the Drama

After the successful completion of the drama, Chae Seo-an shared her thoughts on how her life has changed: “It feels like time, which was at a standstill, is now flowing again. More people recognize me, and seeing my friends happier for my successes gives me immense joy.”

Reflecting on the moment she was cast in ‘폭싹 속았수다’, Chae said, “The phrase I often used during my acting journey is ‘I don’t appear much.’ Whenever asked about my projects, I’d describe my roles but end with that line. So, when I got cast in ‘폭싹 속았수다,’ I wasn’t expecting much. Even after filming ended, there was a moment I considered pursuing a path other than acting.”

Keeping Busy During Downtime

“During my downtime without any schedules, I felt I might become stagnant and lazier by doing nothing. So I tried to keep myself busy,” Chae continued, recalling how she took on various part-time jobs to stay active, despite concerns from those around her.

Upcoming Projects and Personal Preferences

With new roles on the horizon, what does Chae value most when reviewing a script? “I consider the genre, the relationships between characters, and above all, whether I find it interesting,” shared Chae. “I also try to imagine how it will translate to the screen. I really enjoy light-hearted comedies like ‘White Chicks’. Among Korean films, I loved ’30일’ featuring Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min; I watched it several times, imagining how I’d portray the characters.”

Embracing New Beginnings

When asked which season she currently resonates with, Chae responded, “Spring. Like a budding sprout preparing to grow after winter, I feel I’m ready for new growth. While other seasons will come and go, right now, I’m nurturing the shoots I’ve just sprouted.”
