Song Soo Yi Stuns Fans with Dual Charm from Horror to Angelic Beauty in SBS ‘Gwigung’

Actress Song Soo Yi captures attention with her stunning beauty and eerie performance in Gwigung

South Korean actress Song Soo Yi is captivating audiences with her contrasting charms in the SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) Fri-Sat drama ‘Gwigung’. On June 26, Song shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the filming set via her Instagram, accompanied by the caption, “Even I scare myself.”

The photos showcase the versatile sides of her character Ok-im—a court lady ghost possessed by sorrow. From her haunting, scarred appearance to a mischievous expression summoning spirits from a water jar, Song flawlessly transitions between spectral eeriness and playful mischief. Another shot features Song in a long-haired ghostly look, generating an atmospheric tension, while yet another captures her peeking out from inside a well, preparing for a scene.

Earlier, Song had posted candid snaps from the script reading session of ‘Gwigung,’ drawing attention to her natural, doll-like visuals—vastly different from the terrifying role she portrays. Song’s clear-cut features and delicate aura earned her the nickname “Barbie doll visual,” amplifying her surprising transformation on screen.

In ‘Gwigung,’ scripted by Yoon Soo Jung and directed by Yoon Sung Sik, Song Soo Yi portrays Ok-im, a vengeful spirit residing in a courtyard well of the Queen’s quarters. The character’s tragic backstory unfolds as she suffers assault by Prince Youngin (played by Kim Sun Bin) and eventually takes her own life by jumping into the well, stirring viewers’ rage and deep sympathy.

In the recent episodes, Ok-im joins forces with Yeori (played by Kim Ji Yeon) to exact long-awaited revenge on Prince Youngin, seeking to avenge her wrongful death.

Following these episodes, fans flooded social media with praise, saying, “I almost fainted when Ok-im appeared first, but understanding her past made it heartbreaking,” and “How can a ghost be this stunning?” as well as “The prettiest water ghost ever.”

Song Soo Yi, under T&I Cultures management, continues to impress with her dynamic horror visuals and poignant performance in ‘Gwigung,’ airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM via SBS.
