SNL Korea Welcomes Ahn Jae-hong with Shocking Transformation and Idol Parody
Ahn Jae-hong, the viral ‘retirement meme’ legend, joins Saturday Night Live Korea Season 7 as the seventh host, delivering his trademark mix of immersive acting and outrageous comedy. Ahead of the episode’s premiere today at 8 PM KST on Coupang Play, official stills have been released, building anticipation among fans.
Known for his total commitment to roles to the point of sparking rumors of his career-ending performances, Ahn takes things to the next level on SNL Korea with unexpected visuals, transforming into various over-the-top characters. One highlight includes his parody of “Joo Oh-nam” from the hit drama Mask Girl, complete with wig, color contact lenses, and glittery idol-style makeup.
In another sketch, he plays a geeky ‘otaku’ character tenderly embracing a cartoon-printed cushion, wearing a balding wig — an image sure to provoke laughter. Ahn also dramatically portrays a romantic florist in the “Man with a Flower” parody, capturing the heart of fellow cast member Lee Soo-ji with his mischievous charm.
The cast and crew reportedly couldn’t hide their admiration for Ahn’s relentless ad-libs and improvisational flair throughout filming. Kicking off the show, Ahn proclaimed, “Tonight, I’m going all in as the king of retirement memes!”
