SEVENTEEN Reignites with New Album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ Featuring VR and Global Collaborations
K-pop powerhouse SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino) has released a highlight medley of their highly anticipated fifth studio album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ on HYBE Labels’ YouTube channel on the night of the 16th.
The video offers an immersive 360-degree VR viewing experience augmented with 8D audio, allowing fans—affectionately known as CARAT—to celebrate SEVENTEEN’s rebirth from a first-person perspective. The technology enhances the connection between the group and their global audience, creating an almost physical presence as fans step into the world of the music.
The album’s title track, ‘THUNDER’, is already generating buzz for its electrifying EDM-based dance-pop sound and catchy lyrics like “Ring Ring with my friends, Ring Ring with my inspiration.” The track encapsulates SEVENTEEN’s signature explosive performance style while signaling their continued musical evolution.
Another group track, ‘HBD’, offers a gritty rock foundation echoing the group’s emotional and artistic rebirth, beautifully underscored by powerful vocal deliveries. The group’s vision of mutual growth and positive stimulation through music shines as a central theme across the project.
Global collaborations are another major attraction. ‘Bad Influence’, produced in partnership with global icon Pharrell Williams, blends up-tempo drum beats with a deep 808 bass, creating an audacious and free-spirited soundscape.
The album also showcases SEVENTEEN’s diversity through standout solo tracks. Joshua’s ‘Fortunate Change’ delivers sweet excitement, Jun’s ‘Gemini’ infuses emotional melodies with bold energy, and Seungkwan’s ‘Raindrops’ resonates with emotional depth. Wonwoo adds freshness with ‘99.9%’, while DK brings warmth through ‘Happy Virus’.
Vernon shines in the trendy and refreshing ‘Shining Star’, and Hoshi captivates in his solo track ‘Damage (feat. Timbaland)’, a collaboration with legendary producer Timbaland, mixing a modern vibe with nostalgic nuance. Dino explores early-2000s hip-hop R&B in ‘Trigger’, while Woozi and Jeonghan deliver emotional ballads, ‘Fate’ and ‘Coincidence’, respectively.
Other highlights include The8’s ethereal ‘Skyfall’, Mingyu’s tech-house driven ‘Shake It Off’, and S.Coups expressing bold confidence with the lyric “3rd generation still going strong after 10 years” in ‘Jungle’. Each track is tailored with its own visual atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience.
Pledis Entertainment revealed, “This highlight medley was designed for fans to experience SEVENTEEN’s journey of challenge and transformation along with them. The first-person viewpoint and VR elements emphasize the message that ‘everyone can evolve through their own challenges.’”
The full album ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ is set to officially drop on June 26 at 6 PM (KST), promising to be a landmark release in SEVENTEEN’s ever-expanding universe. Prior to the release, from June 23 to 25, the group will host a comprehensive offline event titled ‘B-DAY PARTY’ celebrating their 10th debut anniversary at Sebitseom and Jamsugyo in Seoul.
