SBS Fantasy Thriller ‘The Haunted Palace’ Heats Up With Unexpected Twist Between Yeori and Bibi

Tense encounter between Kim Jiyeon and Cho Hangyeol unfolds in SBS weekend fantasy thriller

SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) is capturing global attention with its formidable fantasy romance-thriller ‘The Haunted Palace’, the network’s signature drama set to define 2025. Drawing viewers into a gripping narrative of spiritual possession and royal vengeance, the weekend series continues to enthrall audiences with its rich storytelling and plot twists.

According to Nielsen Korea, the ninth episode of the drama reached a soaring peak viewership of 11.4% in metropolitan areas and 10.7% nationwide—solidifying double-digit ratings and further cementing the show’s growing popularity.

The newest teaser images heighten anticipation, as protagonist Yeori (played by Kim Ji-yeon), a shaman rejecting her destined spiritual path, is led into the ominous lair of the vengeful spirit clan ‘Palcheokgui’ by Bibi (Cho Han-gyeol)—once her seemingly loyal ally and the younger sibling of the mysterious serpent spirit trapped inside Yeori’s first love, Yoon Gap (played by Yook Sung-jae).

Notably absent from the scene is Kang Cheol (Yook Sung-jae), while an uncharacteristically tense and wary Bibi nervously accompanies Yeori into the spirit shrine under a shroud of night. The change in Bibi’s demeanor—typically mischievous—signals something far more sinister is at play.

Chilling tension builds further when Pungsan (Kim Sang-ho), a menacing presence with unknown motivations, appears within the shrine, his cold stare freezing the atmosphere. The juxtaposed expressions of Yeori’s terror and Bibi’s unreadable gaze leave audiences wondering: why has Bibi led her here? Is this betrayal or a desperate act of protection?

With Pungsan’s twisted smirk watching over them, the stakes have never been higher. Viewers are left on the edge of their seats, craving answers. Will Yeori escape the trap? What secret drives Bibi’s actions in this eerie turn of events?

The Haunted Palace returns tonight at 10 PM KST with episode 11, promising another whirlwind of revelations and supernatural suspense.
