Ryu Hae-joon Joins Mystery Thriller ‘The Hunter with a Scalpel’

Actor Ryu Haejoon features in The Hunter with a Scalpel selected at Cannes Series Festival

Actor Ryu Hae-joon is stepping into the spotlight once again with his role in the highly anticipated thriller series The Hunter with a Scalpel, set to premiere on June 16. This latest project from STUDIO X+U follows the story of Se-hyun (played by Park Ju-hyun), a brilliant forensic pathologist who makes a chilling discovery while performing an autopsy—evidence linking her supposedly deceased father, Jo Kyun (played by Park Yong-woo), to a murder.

Driven to protect her dark past from exposure, Se-hyun sets off on a thrilling hunt to find her father before the police do. The gripping crime series has already gained international attention, having been selected for the non-competitive section of the 8th Cannes International Series Festival.

Ryu Hae-joon brings to life the character of Oh Min-ho, a fifth-year National Forensic Service investigator who is relentless in his pursuit of success. His dynamic interactions with Se-hyun are expected to bring tension and chemistry to the series. The duo’s mentor-mentee relationship will offer a fresh take on investigative drama dynamics.

Ryu made his debut in 2019 with the tvN Drama Stage episode “The Penthouse: War in Life.” Since then, he has steadily built his career through diverse roles in dramas such as Our Blues, Babel Syndrome, This Life, Please Take Care of Me, Connection, Face Me, and Hyper Knife. Known for his nuanced performances, he continues to gain acclaim for his versatility on screen.

The Hunter with a Scalpel is scheduled to be released on U+ tv, U+ Mobile TV, and Disney+ on June 16.
