Rising Star Miss Kim Stuns Audiences on ‘Trot All Star Concert: Wednesday Night’
On the latest episode of TV Chosun’s Trot All Star Concert: Wednesday Night, a special titled ‘Black and White Singer Battle’ aired on June 7, fans witnessed a deeply emotional performance by rising trot star Miss Kim.
The show split performers into White Singer and Black Singer teams based on a pre-show vote. Miss Kim, a standout from Miss Trot 3, earned the highest ranking among the contestants at fourth place, surpassing fellow performers Jung Seo-joo, Bae Ah-hyun, and Oh Yu-jin.
Representing the White Singer team, Miss Kim selected veteran trot singer Seol Woon-do’s emotionally charged classic, Lost 30 Years. Before performing, she shared a touching story from her childhood. ‘My parents worked as beekeepers and used to travel around in May, leaving me at a relative’s home. I missed them terribly, and when I heard this song, I cried,’ she said, explaining how personal memories inspired her song choice.
Her performance captivated from the first note, delivering the traditional flavor of trot with remarkable emotional depth. Miss Kim’s voice, paired with her heartfelt interpretation, intensified the song’s original sorrow, leaving a powerful impression on both the audience and fellow performers.
Viewers sat silently, emotionally drawn in by her soulful voice and expressive vocal techniques. Her version of Lost 30 Years retained the integrity of the original while offering a fresh, deeply personal reinterpretation. The audience could feel every note, and her powerhouse vocals left even her peers in awe, with contestant Bae Ah-hyun remarking, ‘That was a perfect score performance.’
Miss Kim, who recently released new singles ‘Miss Kim’ and ‘It Was Good’, is gaining national attention as the so-called ‘Goddess of Events’, performing actively on TV and at events across the country.
