Rising Star Kim Sung-cheol Transforms into a Cold-Blooded Killer in ‘The Old Woman With the Knife’

Kim Sungcheol unveils intense transformation in The Old Woman With the Knife behind the scenes

South Korean actor Kim Sung-cheol has revealed a striking transformation in the upcoming action drama film The Old Woman With the Knife.

On May 30, his agency Story J Company unveiled a series of behind-the-scenes photos where Kim takes on the role of a mysterious assassin named ‘Tuwoo’. Dressed in a black leather jacket, his intense gaze captures the essence of a killer laser-focused on their target, instantly raising curiosity among fans.

Other images show a complete contrast—Kim appears in a soft grey T-shirt, his youthful appearance juxtaposed with a deeply emotional stare, hinting at the complex narrative of the film. He reportedly nailed each shot with precise emotional depth, embodying the many layers of his character.

Tuwoo is a man who chooses the path of an assassin to track down the legendary killer ‘JOGAK’ (played by Lee Hye-yeong). After over two decades of pursuit, their fates entwine at ‘Shinseong Disinfection’, adding emotional and psychological complexity to their confrontation.

Kim Sung-cheol has been praised for delivering a performance that balances raw physical action with emotional subtlety—from explosive jealousy to honest vulnerability. His portrayal of Tuwoo showcases not only sharp fight sequences but also a moving exploration of inner conflict, sorrow, and obsession.

This layered performance by Kim is building anticipation prior to the film’s release. The Old Woman With the Knife premieres today, diving into the story of two killers—one a legend, the other a chaser—and their inevitable face-off.
