Rising Star Cha Kang Yoon to Shine in tvN’s Upcoming Teen Fantasy Romance ‘Gyeon U and Fairy’
South Korean rising actor Cha Kang Yoon is stepping into the fantasy-romance spotlight with a starring role in tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Gyeon U and Fairy’, premiering this June. Known for his fresh energy and steady growth, Cha is poised to captivate viewers once again by portraying the teenage character of Pyo Ji Ho, a high schooler navigating first love and confusion in a world of supernatural twists.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, ‘Gyeon U and Fairy’ tells the story of a boy fated to die and a young shaman girl from the MZ generation who fights to change his destiny. The series promises a mix of romance, rebellion, and teen angst wrapped in a mystical storyline.
In the drama, Cha joins co-stars Jo Yi Hyun and Chu Young Woo to form an explosive trio embodying youthful passion and emotional complexity. Cha plays Pyo Ji Ho, the reliable friend of Park Seong Ah (played by Jo Yi Hyun), a high school shaman. As enigmatic classmate Bae Gyeon U (Chu Young Woo) enters their lives, Pyo Ji Ho must face unexpected emotions that challenge his clear-cut view of simplicity.
Having previously left strong impressions in roles such as Choi Jin Soo in JTBC’s The Art of Negotiation and Tak Gi On in tvN’s A Piece of Your Mind spin-off, Cha Kang Yoon continues his steady rise. His debut as top student Lee Si U in tvN’s Graduation showcased not only his acting range but also his ability to embody the vulnerability of youth.
Further raising excitement for his future, Cha has already confirmed another TV appearance in JTBC’s upcoming series The Story of Manager Kim, portraying Kim Su Gyeom, the son of the titular lead, set to air later this year.
With his balance of strong visuals and maturing talent, Cha Kang Yoon is quickly becoming a mainstay in Korea’s next generation of leading actors. Don’t miss his next chapter in ‘Gyeon U and Fairy’—set to premiere this June on tvN.
