Reality Show ‘We Meet Now’ Sparks Travel Romance Across Taiwan and Mexico
Channel S‘s latest original travel reality show, We Meet Now, is igniting feel-good excitement with dreamy travel friendships and budding romances. After winning the PP Culture & Arts Category award at the 2024 Cable TV Broadcasting Awards with their previous program, the creators of Rediscover returned with this fresh, romantic travel series produced by SK Broadband.
The second episode, aired on May 9, featured MC Yoo In-na along with special guests MeloMance and travel mates Kim Kwang-tae (from Transit Love Season 3) and spontaneous travel creator Yoo Jae-suk. From a picturesque “Some Tour” in Tamsui, Taiwan to tropical memories in Mérida, Mexico, the episode was a heart-racing mixture of serendipity and scenic adventures.
In Taiwan, Kim Kwang-tae and Sai-sen (a local friend) took their flirtation to the next level after bonding in Taipei. Their chemistry peaked as they shared drinks and inside jokes, creating a buzz in the show’s studio. Observing their closeness, fellow cast member Kim Min-seok exclaimed, “Is this even allowed these days?” while Yoo Jae-suk quipped, “They need to get married now!”
The duo’s romance scaled up as they took couple selfies at Hongmao Cheng, a famed filming site for the movie Secret That Cannot Be Told, and cycled together at sunset in Paris (a scenic viewpoint in Tamsui). Their food tour included indulgent bites of Taiwan’s signature Castella cakes and the local specialty A-gei, completing a perfect romantic itinerary. Kim Kwang-tae’s wish to explore Taiwan’s countryside on a future trip with Sai-sen kept the audience swooning.
Meanwhile in Mérida, Yoo Jae-suk embarked on a spontaneous trip that celebrated friendship with locals. Leveraging just three months of crash-course Spanish, Yoo charmed his way into people’s hearts, making friends within mere minutes. From paying a bus fare for a stranger to bonding over K-pop with Julia at Progreso Beach, Yoo’s journey was packed with heartfelt moments.
The most notable connection came with Caitlin, encountered during a Carnival and Cenote tour. Their friendship sparked after Caitlin overheard Yoo’s humorous chat with Julia and asked for his social media handle. Their time together deepened during a serene visit to the secluded Kusama Cenote, where Yoo charmed Caitlin with compliments like, “You’re like a mermaid.”
Ending their heartwarming day with laughter, eye contact, and a warm hug, Yoo reflected on the beauty of unpredictable journeys: “Travel never goes as planned. That’s what makes meeting someone like Caitlin along the way so special.”
We Meet Now airs every Thursday at 9:20 PM KST on Channel S. It’s available on Channel 01 for B tv users, Channel 44 via KT Genie TV, and Channel 61 on LG U+TV.
