Park Ji Hoon’s ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ Climbs Netflix Global Rankings

Weak Hero Class 2 featuring Park Ji Hoon rises in Netflix global charts with record views

Rising star Park Ji Hoon continues his global ascent with the hit action drama series Weak Hero Class 2. The sequel to the critically acclaimed Weak Hero Class 1 has captivated audiences worldwide, recording 6,400,000 views between April 28 and May 4, 2024, on Netflix. This achievement secured the No. 2 spot in Netflix’s Non-English Global Top 10, and No. 4 when including all languages.

Weak Hero Class 2 has reached a strong international footprint, topping rankings in 13 countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. It placed in the Top 10 across 61 countries — a testament to its growing global reach.

Meanwhile, Weak Hero Class 1, which premiered in March on Netflix, saw a significant viewership boost, climbing from No. 8 to No. 5 with 2,200,000 views. Remarkably, the series has stayed on the Top 10 chart for six consecutive weeks, showcasing its sustained popularity.

The storyline of Weak Hero Class 2 continues the emotional journey of Yeon Si Eun (played by Park Ji Hoon), a model student haunted by the trauma of failing to protect a friend. After transferring to Eunjang High School, he is thrust into a relentless fight against greater violence to shield new companions while battling personal demons.

The character development shines as Park Ji Hoon portrays Yeon Si Eun’s transformation — from a guilt-ridden teen to a resilient fighter who overcomes his trauma through new friendships with Park Hu Min (Ryeoun), Seo Jun Tae (Choi Min Young), and Go Hyun Tak (Lee Min Jae). Together, they go head-to-head against adversaries including Na Baek Jin (Bae Na Ra) and Geum Sung Je (Lee Jun Young).

The franchise’s first installment, Weak Hero Class 1, launched in 2022 via local streaming service Wavve, garnering praise for its intricate storyline, emotional depth, and stellar performances. With its return, the series continues to redefine high school action dramas and reaffirm the global impact of K-content.

In other news, the weekend drama scene saw performances such as ‘Heavenly Beautiful’ (JTBC, starring Kim Hye Ja and Son Suk Ku) with 2,100,000 views, and tvN’s ‘Resident Life‘ starring Go Yoon Jung with 2,000,000 views. The Netflix series ‘When Life Gives You Melons‘ led by IU and Park Bo Gum also held strong at No.9 with 1,600,000 views, marking its ninth week on the chart.
