Park Bo-gum Transforms in JTBC’s Youth Action Drama ‘Good Boy’
A bold new chapter begins for Park Bo-gum as he makes a dramatic transformation in the first teaser trailer for JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama, ‘Good Boy’. Slated to premiere on May 31, this ensemble action-comedy follows a group of former Olympic medalists who trade podiums for police badges to fight corruption in their city. The drama will be available globally via Amazon Prime Video.
Park Bo-gum headlines the ‘Good Vengers’—a group consisting of medal-winning athletes who now use their unique skills to enforce justice. The trailer introduces viewers to their past glory and the stark contrast of their current lives—no longer basking in the limelight, but instead, grappling with everyday hardships. From darkened patrol cars to wearing cartoonish costumes for work, every scene underscores their fall from grace and their determination to rise again, stronger than ever.
Park Bo-gum plays Yun Dong-ju, a former boxing gold medalist now confronting reality as a rookie cop. Alongside him is air rifle gold medalist Ji Han-na (played by Kim So-hyun), fencing silver medalist Kim Jong-hyun (Lee Sang-yi), wrestling bronze medalist Go Man-sik (Heo Sung-tae), and discus thrower Shin Jae-hong (Tae Won-seok), who now dons a mascot costume to earn a living.
Directed by Shim Na-yeon, best known for her acclaimed work on ‘Monster’ and ‘The Good Bad Mother’, and scripted by Lee Dae-il, writer of ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Chief of Staff’, ‘Good Boy’ blends comedy, action, and heartfelt moments for a dynamic viewer experience. The teaser ends with Park’s intense glare and the line, “The round isn’t over until we break them,” setting the tone for a redemptive story of resilience and justice.
The production team states, “‘Good Boy’ is a story about youth who rise again after defeat. The ‘Good Vengers’ are ready to throw a punch at a world full of injustice and corruption. We hope their fiery comeback will ignite your hearts.”
JTBC’s ‘Good Boy’ will take over the slot currently occupied by ‘More Beautiful Than Heaven’ and airs every Saturday & Sunday at 10:40 PM KST. With global distribution through Amazon Prime Video, international fans can also join the ride.
