NEXZ Turns Up the Heat with ‘Simmer’ Performance Video

NEXZ releases Simmer performance video highlighting dynamic visuals and hiphop style

JYP Entertainment’s rising boy group NEXZ (Tomoya, Yuu, Haru, Sogun, Seita, Hui, Yuki) has once again proven their performance prowess with the release of the performance video for their track ‘Simmer’. The video was unveiled on May 12 through NEXZ’s official social media channels, captivating fans with its high-level choreography, concept styling, and infectious energy.

Making their comeback on April 28 with their second EP ‘O-RLY?’ and its title track of the same name, NEXZ gained attention early by pre-releasing the music video for ‘Simmer’. The track, a metaphorical hip-hop exploration of rising tension—named after the culinary term for slowly heating just below boiling point—showcases the group’s signature blend of youthful intensity and stylistic precision.

In the newly released performance video, NEXZ reimagines school uniforms with a modern, hip twist while delivering dynamic moves, some of which were choreographed by members Tomoya, Yuu, and Haru themselves. The creativity and personal touch offered fans a double dose of charisma and engagement.

The group highlighted their performance-driven identity further on music shows including Music Bank, Show! Music Core, and Inkigayo, where they showcased both the upbeat freedom of title track ‘O-RLY?’ and the restrained cool of ‘Simmer’. Their ability to nail contrasting styles has earned them widespread praise and solidified their position as a next-generation K-pop powerhouse.

NEXZ made history with ‘O-RLY?’, topping South Korea’s major real-time and weekly album charts, including Bugs and Hanteo, as well as Circle’s weekly and retail album rankings. The group earned their first-ever domestic music show nomination on Music Bank and celebrated their first radio appearance on Park So Hyun’s Love Game where members Tomoya, Hui, and Yuki charmed listeners with vibrant chemistry.

Adding to their promotional streak, member Tomoya showcased his versatility as a special MC on Inkigayo, where the group also celebrated Hui’s birthday with a surprise performance featuring their strengths in b-boying and high-energy choreography.

The group is set to appear on Kim Shin Young’s Noon Song of Hope on May 13, further showcasing their growing fluency in Korean and engaging personalities. As one of 2025’s most promising K-pop Rookie groups, NEXZ is carving a unique place in the global K-pop scene with each performance.
