Nexz Drops Bold Second Mini Album ‘O-RLY?’ Proving Rookie No More

Kpop group Nexz returns with high energy album O-RLY featuring tracks by Stray Kids HAN

K-pop’s beloved wildcards, Nexz, have returned just five months after their roaring debut with NALLINA, this time delivering a bolder, fuller sound on their second mini album, O-RLY?, released on the 28th.

The coming-of-age project showcases the group’s vibrant energy, warmth, and playfulness through five core tracks—led by the title song—and a special bonus track Z Side (CD-only) for true fans. The album includes the high-sheen pre-released MV Simmer, the experimental Want More? One More, the emotionally-driven Run With Me, and the groove-perfect Slo-mo. Notably, Run With Me carries the lyrical signature of HAN from senior labelmates Stray Kids, adding yet another layer of industry intrigue.

We sat down with the seven members—Tomoya, Yu, Haru, So Geon, Seita, Hyui, and Yuki—who showed confidence and pride in their evolving artistry. Members Yu and Haru explained that they participated directly in choreographing the title track, creating a performance reflecting Nexz’s authentic identity. “Once you see it, you’ll want to watch it again,” they shared.

Recognition is already pouring in. Nexz was recently named one of the Top K-pop Rookies to Watch in 2025 by Grammy.com and won a Best 5 New Artists award at the prestigious Japan Gold Disc Awards. Reflecting on this ascent, Tomoya shared, “This comeback made us realize how much we’ve grown. Instead of chasing outcomes, we’re focusing on creating joy for our fans.”

As expectations soar, JYP Entertainment stands firm in its faith in the group’s potential. “We packed in sounds never heard from us before. It’s a side of Nexz no one else has seen,” said So Geon. “Just like the album’s title, people will be shocked—in the best way.”

Seita added that the title track blends a strong old-school hip-hop beat with intense performance, while Yuki recommended fans listen closely to the infectious hook, “Talkin’ to me”—a sure standout.

March marked another milestone, with Nexz hosting their first official fan meeting in Korea. The emotional event saw Tomoya shedding heartfelt tears at the same venue that once held their debut showcase. “Before debuting, I was unsure if anyone would ever love us. That day, I knew we were truly supported,” he said.

Looking forward, the group introduced their newest mascots: the animal-inspired Nexju characters and their signature avatar FOX2Y. June kicks off their first solo tour across 14 Japanese cities, a crowning milestone in their rookie year.

When asked about their hopes for 2025, the dream was clear: “All seven of us want to appear on a variety show together,” they declared. “We want to share not just performance, but personality—whether in music, shows, or laughter.”
