Netflix Teams Up with Park Gyu-tae for New Comedy Action Film ‘Husbands’

Netflix announces comedy action film Husbands directed by Park Gyu tae starring Jin Seon kyu and Gong Myung

Netflix has officially announced the production of a new original comedy-action film, ‘Husbands’, directed by Park Gyu-tae, the creative mind behind the widely acclaimed hit 6/45. Known for his witty dialogue, layered humor, and dynamic characters, Park returns with yet another cinematic surprise.

‘Husbands’ tells the unpredictable story of ex-husband Chungsik and current husband Minseok, who are forced into an unlikely alliance when their wife is kidnapped by a dangerous drug cartel. What follows is a thrilling, laugh-out-loud rescue mission fueled by miscommunications, clashing personalities, and chaotic action sequences.

Fans of Extreme Job will be delighted as veteran actor Jin Seon-kyu and rising star Gong Myung reunite, this time as the comedic pair of rival husbands. Jin, known for his magnetic performances across Netflix’s The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch, Alienoid Part 2, and The Cursed, plays Chungsik, a dedicated narcotics detective who practically lives at the precinct. Just as he busts the kingpin of a new synthetic drug operation he’s been tracking for years, he discovers that his ex-wife, Sine, has been abducted.

Minseok, the charismatic and refined current husband played by Gong Myung—recognized for his nuanced roles in Citizen Deok-Hee, Killing Romance, and One Week Before I Die—is a veterinarian with no combat experience but strong determination. Together, they set off on a rescue mission that blends gut-busting laughs with high-stakes action.

The film’s antagonists also shine with star power. Kim Ji-seok takes on the role of Do-jun, the mastermind of a cutting-edge drug empire. Meanwhile, Yoon Kyung-ho, celebrated for his performance in Trauma Center, plays Yonggang, a rival gang leader striving to regain control of his territory.

Actress Kang Han-na plays the kidnapped wife, Sine, who despite her perilous situation, remains fiercely defiant. Lee Da-hee steps into the role of Hyeran, Do-jun’s wife and a strategic player within the drug business. Known for impactful performances in Single’s Inferno, Island, and Divorce Insurance, Lee promises a bold transformation in this role.

Produced by TPS Company, the studio behind boundary-pushing hits like Seobok, Restricted Call, and Fabricated City, ‘Husbands’ is expected to deliver an innovative fusion of comedy and action. The film will be released exclusively on Netflix.
