Netflix K-Drama ‘Your Taste’ Rises to No. 2 on Global Non-English TV Charts
The global popularity of ‘Your Taste’, a Korean romance drama from Genie TV and streaming on Netflix, is skyrocketing. According to Netflix’s official Top 10 rankings on the Tudum website released on May 21, the show climbed to No. 2 in the global Non-English TV category with 6.6 million views between May 12 and May 18. This places it at No. 5 overall globally, surpassing many English-language titles.
The drama is currently the No. 1 ranked show in 17 countries, including South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. Further, it has entered the Top 10 in 53 countries worldwide.
‘Your Taste’ made its debut on May 12. The story follows Han Beom-Woo (played by Kang Ha-Neul), the chaebol heir and “recipe hunter” who acquires small restaurants to inherit a food corporation, and chef Mo Yeon-Ju (played by Go Min-Si), who runs a one-table eatery in Jeonju. Their confrontation in the kitchen evolves into a delightful and fiery romantic growth story filled with culinary standoffs and emotional twists.
The cast includes Kim Shin-Rok, Yoo Soo-Bin, Bae Na-Ra, and Hong Hwa-Yeon. So far, four episodes have aired, drawing positive reviews for its clever blend of lighthearted humor and emotional depth.
Another contender on the Netflix chart is the Korean romance thriller ‘TanGeum’, starring Lee Jae-Wook and Jo Bo-Ah. It racked up 2.2 million views in just three days between May 16 and 18, placing it at No. 6. It also broke into the Top 10 in 12 countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
tvN’s ongoing medical drama ‘Some Day We’ll Be Sad, Interns’ continues its successful run. Featuring rising stars like Go Youn-Jung, Jung Joon-Won, Kang You-Seok, and Cynthia, the show maintained its place in the Top 10 with 1.9 million views, marking six consecutive weeks on the chart.
