MBC ‘If You Rest, It’s a Relief’ Showcases High-End Island Dining

On May 26, the 49th episode of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation’s hit variety show, ‘If You Rest, It’s a Relief’, offered viewers a unique culinary experience set on a remote island. Featuring the leadership of Lee Young-pyo alongside Jo Hye-ryeon, Jo Woo-jong, Kang Jae-jun, and renowned chef Jung Ho-young, the episode turned a deserted location into a bustling seafood restaurant.

After nearly a year of anticipation, Chef Jung Ho-young landed the opportunity to work with the most luxurious seafood ingredients. The result: an elaborate meal featuring fresh, premium shellfish and fish—prepared with Chef Jung’s signature recipes. Overseeing the preparation were Lee Young-pyo, Jo Hye-ryeon, and Kang Jae-jun, who all got hands-on in the kitchen.

A surprising twist came when Lee Young-pyo, known for his meticulous nature, couldn’t resist sampling ingredients that had fallen to the ground, delighting his teammates by exclaiming, “Even what falls tastes great!” Tension quickly arose, however, when someone noticed that some of the high-cost ingredients had been misplaced. Chef Jung launched an investigation, while the hosts all insisted on their innocence. Lee Young-pyo even jokingly called for a ‘VAR’ (Video Assistant Referee) review, adding humor and drama to the scene.

Despite these hurdles, the team completed a luxurious meal. Lee Young-pyo proudly announced to their “guests” that the meal was worth approximately KRW 1,200,000 (about $900 USD), showcasing the premium ingredients and culinary skills brought to the table. The secret behind this lavish feast was revealed to viewers during the episode, broadcast at 9 PM on MBC.

This episode beautifully blends celebrity camaraderie with luxury cuisine, offering international fans a closer look at Korean food culture and reality TV innovation.
