Mr. Trot Star Ok Jin-wook Makes Musical Debut in ‘The Creature’
Rising star Ok Jin-wook, known for his performance in Mr. Trot Season 1, is making his musical debut in an original production titled The Creature. Drawing inspiration from Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein, the musical reimagines the tragic ending where the doctor and his creation meet their ultimate fates in the Arctic.
Set to run from June 16 to August 31 at the Daehangno Jayu Theater in Seoul, The Creature introduces a unique narrative perspective, exploring what happens after the original novel ends. The story delves deeper into the emotional landscape of both the creator and the creature.
The role of the creator is played by Park Min-sung, Jung In-ji, Lee Hyung-hoon, and Shin Eun-ho, while Ok Jin-wook transforms into the tormented creature alongside Moon Tae-yu, Jeon Sung-min, and Jo Hwan-ji. In newly released promotional artwork, Ok exudes a chilling intensity with his pale complexion and piercing gaze, setting high expectations for his portrayal.
Interestingly, long before his singing stardom, Ok Jin-wook pursued a degree in musical theater—a dream now revived. Fans remember him from Mr. Trot Season 1 for his magnetic voice and dazzling tap dance routines that captivated audiences.
Following his breakout moment, he became part of the trot group 다섯장, curated by legendary singer Jang Yoon-jung, alongside Chu Hyuk-jin, Lee Hoe-taek (Hui of Pentagon), Kim Myung-jun (MJ of Astro), and Park Hyung-seok. His versatility soon led him to acting roles in dramas like Dream of a Thousand Dreams, Winter Cherry Blossoms, and the upcoming Running Mate.
In 2023, he drew headlines once again—not for singing or acting, but for winning a boxing competition, solidifying his name among entertainment industry hopefuls like Lee Si-young and Yoon Hyung-bin.
