‘Moon in Our Hearts’: Remembering ASTRO’s Moonbin on His Second Anniversary

April 19 marks the second anniversary of the untimely passing of ASTRO’s Moonbin, a shining star whose light continues to inspire fans and fellow artists around the world. The beloved singer and actor, who was also part of the unit Moonbin & Sanha, tragically passed away at the age of 25 at his home in Gangnam, Seoul in 2023.

His agency Fantagio released a heartfelt statement at the time, conveying the deep sorrow: “Moonbin has left us and become a star in the sky. We are heartbroken to deliver such sudden news to the fans who always offered him boundless love. Knowing how deeply he loved and cared for his fans, the loss is even more painful.”

In the wake of his passing, Fantagio created a memorial space at their headquarters, allowing thousands of fans to come together in mourning. Touching tribute letters from fellow ASTRO members, his sister Moon Sua, and close friends like SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan and Mingyu conveyed the depth of their loss.

Music became a vessel for remembrance. On the first anniversary in 2023, JinJin paid tribute with the heartfelt song “Fly.” Previously, Seungkwan released “민들레 (Dandelion),” and Cha Eun-woo contributed the single “Stalker,” all dedicated to preserving Moonbin’s memory.

Now, as the calendar turns to the second anniversary, fans and fellow artists reunite once again to offer a musical tribute. The commemorative song “꿈속의 문 (Moon),” which translates to “Door in the Dream,” is set for release at 6 PM KST. According to Fantagio, the song was created by Moonbin’s closest friends with the intention of comforting fans and celebrating his enduring legacy.

Born in 1998, Moonbin began his career as a child actor, appearing in classics like 꽃보다 남자. He later captivated audiences with his 2016 debut as a member of ASTRO, followed by the success of his unit Moonbin & Sanha, whose final project together, the mini-album INCENSE, was released in January 2023.

Moonbin may no longer be with us, but through music, memories, and an ever-present love from fans, his star shines brighter than ever.
