Kpop star Hyeongwon of MONSTA X waves to fans outside Capital Mechanized Infantry Division

On the morning of May 13, Hyeongwon, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group MONSTA X, greeted a crowd of fans gathered outside the Capital Mechanized Infantry Division in Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province as he prepared to begin his mandatory military service in South Korea.

Wearing a modest outfit and exuding calm energy, Hyeongwon waved warmly to his fans, who had arrived early to send their support. Many held placards and wore gear emblazoned with MONSTA X imagery, showcasing the deep connection and unwavering loyalty shared between the group and their global fanbase, known as MONBEBE.

With emotional yet optimistic expressions, fans chanted messages of support, while Hyeongwon took a moment to address the media and fans. “Thank you for all the love you’ve shown me so far,” he said. “I’ll serve faithfully and return healthy. Please continue to support MONSTA X and me.”

This marks a significant pause in his entertainment activities, as South Korean male citizens are required to serve approximately 18 months in the military. Hyeongwon’s enlistment follows fellow MONSTA X member Shownu, who recently completed his service.

MONSTA X debuted in 2015 under Starship Entertainment and quickly rose to global stardom with hits such as “Hero,” “Shoot Out,” and “Love Killa.” The group has consistently toured internationally and built a massive fanbase in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

With Hyeongwon’s enlistment, MONSTA X fans are sending messages of unity and resilience, trending hashtags such as #ServeWellHyeongwon and #MONSTAXForever across social media platforms.

Hyeongwon is expected to complete his military service by late 2026. Fans worldwide await his return, continuing to support the group in various ongoing projects and solo ventures.
