MMA Star Choo Sung-hoon Shares His Favorite Shopping Ritual in Japan
South Korean mixed martial artist Choo Sung-hoon recently gave fans an inside look at one of his favorite routines—monthly shopping trips to Japan’s popular discount chain Don Quixote. In a YouTube video titled “A Place I Visit Once a Month,” posted on June 24, Choo embraced the role of a fun-loving shopper who finds joy in quirky items and personal treasures.
“There’s so much interesting stuff here. I’ve been to stores around the world—in Singapore, Hawaii—but this one is special,” Choo said with a smile as he browsed through the aisles.
While his wife Shiho and daughter may not share his enthusiasm—“My daughter isn’t a fan, and I don’t think Shiho has ever been here,” he laughed—Choo proudly claimed his passion for Don Quixote.
Known for being doting father, Choo also made sure to shop for his daughter. But what caught viewers’ attention most was his enthusiastic scoop of his favorite Lip Balm into the cart, a nod to his viral “Lip Balm Facial Cleansing” routine that took fans by surprise.
Interestingly, Choo also ventured into the adult section of the store. “Let me compare what’s different between Fukuoka and Tokyo stores,” he joked, momentarily leaving the production team behind.
He added with a chuckle, “A lot of Korean people shop here, but they never say hi. They avoid eye contact—it’s hilarious.”
Choo capped off his shopping spree with bags in both hands, beaming, “I go around the whole place every time. Spent about 280,000 won.”
Whether it’s for his unconventional skincare hacks or candid personality, Choo’s monthly visit to Don Quixote adds another layer to the fighter’s relatable and charming public persona.
