Kim So yeon captivates audiences with her vocals and charm on TV Chosuns Wednesday Night

South Korean singer Kim So-yeon, a rising star from Miss Trot 3, delivered a captivating performance on the latest episode of TV Chosun‘s music competition program Trot All-Star Match: Wednesday Night.

On June 7, Kim appeared in the show’s special segment “Black & White Singers Battle,” a feature within the program where former contestants from Miss & Mr. Trot face off solely through their performances. As a member of the “black singers” team, Kim charmed the audience with her wit, joking about the uncomfortable chair and long wait times.

When critiques suggested a change in her signature nasal vocal tone, she playfully responded, “That’s my charm,” confidently adding, “I’ll rise to the white team.”

For her stage, Kim selected the classic trot song “Crush” by legend Joo Hyun-mi. Dressed in a stylish monochrome outfit, she exuded sexy and chic vibes, drawing attention not just for her vocals but also for her vibrant energy on stage.

Kim’s unique tone and vocal stability stunned both the judges and fellow contestants. Post-performance, fellow contestant Jung Seo-joo remarked, “I was surprised at how well So-yeon sang,” while Bae Ah-hyun praised her voice, calling the song “a custom fit for So-yeon.”

The performance earned Kim top marks, ultimately placing her in the coveted “Jin” position — given to the top performer of the episode.

Kim So-yeon first gained national attention during her run on Miss Trot 3, where her skillful vocal delivery and infectious energy helped her ascend to the show’s TOP7. Since then, she has expanded her presence in the entertainment world, maintaining an active connection with fans through various media and TV appearances.

Her appearance on Trot All-Star Match: Wednesday Night further cements her status as a viable name in the next generation of trot stars.
